İngilizcedeki "Province" kelimesi Fransa daki "Provence" den mi geliyor diye merak ettim. Wikipediaya bakarken şunu buldum:

The English word province is attested since about 1330 and derives from the 13th-century Old French province, which itself comes from the Latin word provincia, which referred to the sphere of authority of a magistrate; in particular, to a foreign territory. 

Sanırım Latinceden türediğini söylüyor burada.

The Romans made the region the first Roman province beyond the Alps and called it Provincia Romana, which evolved into the present name.

Burada da Romanların "Provincia Romana" 'Roma bölgesi' gibi bir isim takmışlar. Buradan da Provence ye türemiş Fransızcadan.
